Had a random call that wanted me to go to a run prompt and type in iexplore 103.8.178.123. I had them on the line for quiet a long time before they realized i was messing with them, then it escalated to cussing back and forth. Just some [***] idiot that thinks that they can get to your computer. Don't believe that any call that comes in is going to be there to actually help you and your computer. Don't believe it, Ever.

My wife received this same call today from a [***]/Indian fellow saying something about our computer having problems

Both a friend and I received a call from this number on our cell phones yesterday. We did not answer and no message was left. We thought it was odd since our numbers aren't even close. We wondered if it was just a coincidence or they had some other way of robo calling numbers not in sequential order. Very strange.

Just got a call on my mobile from a guy with a middle-eastern/Indian accent stating that they'd received an automated report from my computer that a virus had been detected, and asked for my network login info. 2 problems with this: 1) My company's stuff is all handled in-house, and 2) my company's IT guys wouldn't be this prompt.Told him "this sounds like a scam, and I'm going to..." ***click***The number was dead when I called back. They're using a cloning app of some sort where they can call you from one number and make it appear that the call is from another location.

Got a call from this number on my cell phone. Did not answer it. They didn't leave a message.

Keeps calling from this number but they never leave a message. After reading all these posts, I will not be answering it either. BLOCK *click*

This is a well documented tech scam. Check out IT scams on US Homeland Security and other websites. They represent themselves as "Geek Squad" or "Windows Support" or some other variation. They attempt to tell you that they are responding to error messages or infection messages sent by your computer to them and they are responding. They can sound very convincing. they will convince you that they are for real by leading you to places in your computer and telling you what you will find. This information is common to all computers but is not well known by the average user therefore you believe they might be legit. They ultimately will try to convince you that things need to be fixed and try and get access to your computer. They will ask you to give them access to your computer by a number of steps. Once you do this and let them in - you are screwed. DO NOT play along. When you challenge them they will get irritated and just try to convince you further. Report all such calls and the numbers they are using on sites like this to help prevent others from getting scammed.

I had the exact same experience just now. When I pressed the guy as to why he was calling me and how he got my number he hung up. When I called the number back, a recording came on and said the number was not in service.
