Indian accent - lady- called and said she worked for Microsoft & Windows, and they had received notification that I was having operating problems on my computer. I told her that if I have problems with my computer, I will call Microsoft or Windows directly. She said she would remove my name from her calling list.
Got the call, knew it was a scam right away but played along for a couple of minutes until he told me it was a problem with my Windows operating system. I told him that was kinda of strange because I don't use Windows. He started stumbling and his spiel fell apart. Called him out on it being a scam and hung up. Hahahaha
I got the same call this morning. He said he was from "Geeks Alive" and that he was getting information from my computer. I told him it was a scam and that I would call the authorities. He asked "are you threatening me" I said, "no, I'm not threatening you, you are threatening me." He kept saying that I was threatening him when I said I was going to call the authorities. I told him to take me off the list and hung up.
The call came through as +86 (0) 951-7532Yinchuan, Ningxia, China.Didn't answer, like I'd ever answer a cell call from China.
Got a call from 860-951-7532 - an Indian guy is trying to get information about your computer. I immediately told him that I will report the number
Thanks to all of you who posted about this caller. I was able to find out who and what it is about this caller. This caller called 3 times on my cell and I didn't answer. I am paying by the minutes so I have to be careful what call to answer. Now this number is on the blacklist for good.
Eastern man called me... Same deal.. Said my computer was having problems. I acted like I was listening to his directions and took him pretty far. I believe he thought he had me until I asked him,"Why are you trying to scam me?" And then he got silent... I asked him again "why are you trying to scam me?" His response is "F you A hole"! And then hangs up on me.
I just received a call from this number (860-951-7532). The caller sounded muffled as if he was under water. I told him that, after a short pause he asked if I could hear him now. I said that he was still muffled but I'll try my best to hear him. A female came to the phone and said hello; I responded hello then I was disconnected. It seems as though that he was calling from a call center as there seemed to be other conversations in the background. After reading the above reviews, I called the number only to receive a recording stating that the number is not a working number and that I should check the area code as Hartford has two are codes.I suspect that they'll call back, and if they do, I will update this post.
Identified himself as calling from Windows (right). He received a report sent from my computer identifying problems with Windows. Knowing it was a scam, I asked when he received the report, and got a BS answer. I then told him it was truly amazing that my computer could send something out when it has been unplugged and hasn't been turned on for awhile, so I needed an exact date. I ultimately hung up on him. He called right back and was pretty aggressive as I was telling him to lose my number. I finally shouted over him and told him this was my official notice that I didn't want any more calls from him EVER and that I would be reporting the calls, at which point he hung up.
I got a call from this number on my cell, but I did not answer. I called the number back and it is a non working number, which makes me think this is a scam from overseas spoofing a Connecticut number. After reading the posts here, it is definitely a scam. I have this theory that it is run from an IT call center in India. Since many stateside companies have outsourced IT support to India, these guys have learned how to get remote control of a computer and have decided to "go into business for themselves". It is a scam...just hang up on them, block the number or just don't answer. :)
