Caller ID states, "8664195000"... Message from a female oriental accented voice, stating it's the local police dept. and "we're calling..." I ended the message, since I know, no "real police" call from an "866" number~! Called the real police department non-emergency number, and reported the scam call~! Done with unreal and unwanted scam calls!!! Which includes charities of "all" sorts! If we want to "give" to an organization, then we will do so "directly" ourselves, NOT by someone who calls us first!!! Stop calling a-holes!!!
Weird message left this afternoon on my voice mail. The beginning of it was cut off, so it made no sense. It seemed to be about a water or sewage or water treatment problem, but if this is the best "emergency notification" they're capable of, forget it. It was a wasted effort.
They've called me did not answer. I googled the number landed to this website. Called back the number it was my local police with a recording of a missing female and needs public help to find her. Good thing I've called and thanks to those that commented her.
This is an incredibly stupid way of transmitting emergency information. How do I go about removing my number from their database ?
Called to alert me to power outages in Rhode Island. I live in Oklahoma. Thanks......I guess.
Got the call yesterday and they just said they were "testing" the system. I thought it was some kind of computer hacking thing so I googled the phone number. So glad I read this thread, I didn't know about this "Code Red" - what an awesome service, but they should let us know about it in a big way so these threads don't exist!
lee county sheriff notifying me a sex offender living in my area. They gave his name, address, and physical description and info to find his picture on their website. Legit
No, apparently you DON'T have to opt in, because I'm pretty sure my fax machine -- I don't use that number for voice -- didn't sign itself up for CodeRed alerts. I am just now going back through the last two months of calls to see which idjits been trying to sell my fax machine a Caribbean cruise or new vinel siding (honestly, I think my fax machine prefers clapboard) and lo and behold, CodeRed called my fax to tell it something no doubt something terribly urgent, twice.
