Got an email today - with basically the same message as folks have been getting via phone - suspicious activity on my ATM card etc. Well email was not sent to the email address associated with any of my financial accounts and email was from "Chase" but phone number is for BofA. I decided to have a bit of fun - so I called, punched in a phone 16 digit number, was on hold, "rep" finally answered - gave him a different phony number - sure enough he neeed by SSN so I made up one of those as well, he asked me to repeat it back, so I gave him a different one, along with a fake name etc. He seemed to be buying it, finally I couldn't keep a straight face anymore so I had to hang up
I called 1-800-432-1000, this is the number to their fraud/risk department, there was a more technical name for it, but i was making sure that it was theres. There is also a collect number for the department as well some 770-710-6040 or something like that. It's legit, maybe the e-mails you guys are talking about arent. Those who have accounts with BOA, if you needed to make sure its a true alert, go to bank of americas official site, log in, and then go to your alerts page, and you'll see if the e-mail really came from them.
I just spoke directly to BoA and they confirmed this number is NOT LEGIT. DO NOT CALL IT OR GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION. It is a phishing scam.DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER.
i've spoken with bank of america, this is NOT their legit phone number. this is quite teft and the feds should shut these criminals on site! and then ask questions...
I was given this number by the regular customer service line at BoA. This is legit even though it is not published on their website (I will recommend that they publish it). Also, beware that people can spoof caller ID so that is why some may have had scam calls from this number. If you call this number, you are safe.
Recieved E-mail that said they were Chase. If others claim that it is a legit number I would seriously question their honesty. I called Chase and they have no record of this number.
I got the same message and called the number on the back of my BofA ATM card to make sure it wasn't a scam. The guy at BofA gave me the same phone number that was on the automated phone message.
