My god all of you people...Like every other big comany they don't handle this sort of thing in house. They pay another company to do it for them. Why does it show up for Chase too? THEY PROBABLY USE THE SAME OUTSOURCER.Very simple, follow these steps, this is a legit number: - Go to bank of america dot com (no link, type it in yourself) - Log in - Choose Accounts up at the top (if it isn't already selected) - Choose Alerts from the bar just below that - Choose Alerts History just below that - You will see for the day you got the email an alert - Click Show Details for that alertYou will see something like this:We detected irregular activity on your Bank of America Check Card on (date). For your protection, you must verify this activity before you can continue using your card. Please visit www.myfraudprotection.com to review your account activity, and then call us immediately at 1.877.833.5617. We will review the activity on your account with you and upon verification, we will remove any restrictions placed on your account.

This number was in an email from BOA I received today reporting an alert of irregular check card activity for my wife. I called her to confirm (out of town at a mall) her usage which I could see online at BOA. She confirmed. I called the #, they asked for my SS#. I instead gave them my BOA account #. It was regarding those purchases - I confirmed that they were valid, and the lifted the hold. After a few minutes, I decided to call BOA (# on my check card) and I did verify that there had been a hold today, but it was also lifted today.GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME... though always concerned with stuff like this (I have spent more than an hour on this "project", and can now "rest easy")

Recieved same e-mail from Chase. Others say it is Bank of America number. Who ever it is, they are nothing but computer scam artists.

I got a call from a 315-724-4022 number at first which probably led me to this number. I hung up though because I had a hard time hearing it. I have a feeling the 315 call was a scam. I called back at the 877 number, so I'm not sure if that was a good idea or not. However, I did call 1-800-432-1000 (the number on their website and on the back of my card) to find that this number is legit. They even forwarded me to the number, which supplied the same automatic message at the beginning when I first called the 877 number. It's just a specified number for the fraud department in BofA (and maybe other banks too). They just wanted to make sure you made those transactions.

877 833 5617 This is a fraudulent number. They called me saying they wanted to check the activity of my Bank of America debit card, and the thing is that I had closed my account with Bank of America months ago. They had no idea and did not seem to be able to check.

This number is legit = 1.877.833.5617I got 2 email alerts, it was address to my name and also it listed the 4 last digits of my card (your card ending in XXXX).Also, I received 2 voice messages from BofA in my home number, which I never give away to anyone since I use my cell most of the time, me messages were alerts as well. When I logged to my online, I noticed that in the previous day there was 3 fraudulent transactions. I called 1.877.833.5617 and spoke with 3 different people, one from the fraud dept. and after with 1 from the claims dept. I lost my connection and when I called back another clains person already had all the info I was discussing. Anyway, later that day, just to be sure, I looked up the number 1.877.833.5617 and saw this thread and had a huge PANIC attack. I then call the regular 1800 BoA general number from the website and told the girl I thought I was part of a huge SCAM. She confirmed with me that the alert was legit, and it showed in my account that I had a claim open and that they had block my debit card and issued me a new card. uffff... Still, seems like some thieves are using that number for phishing, but the lady told me that BoA always addresses you by your FULL name when you get emails, of if you got 1.877.833.5617 alert, but it does not have your FULL name in the body of the email, they are trying to make you click on a phishing link.

This is absolutely legit. I checked my online account and its the fraud #. You can check your alerts online as well and see what the reason is. However, you will have to call the # to see exactly whats going on with the Fraud. Thank you BOA
