Folks, I get calls from them about a debt from my marriage. I live in MA, and they do actually have lawyers who are barred in several states. I have gotten letters with the lawyers listed, they probably have a website too. The debt relief company I use is familiar with them, and says they work for 3-4 different credit card companies, not just Amex. My concern is while they are a collection agency first, they do occasionally go to court (although my debt in dispute is pretty small so they probably won't) however if they do get a judgment against me they can "ask" a judge to garnish wages or put a lien on a house, but I don't see how this could cost me a job, unless I had lied about it previously. Don't take my word, check out the Bud Hibbs website (the letter above does work), check out Zweicker's site, and check with your state or attorney. Being informed is your best defense against them!

when they call simply ask for the last four digits of the social security # that they are calling about and if no match thell them to go fishing somewhere else they are just calling phone #'s with matching or close names in phone listings.

These people call nearly every day and sometimes only letthe phone ring two times. They know I am on a dissabilitycheck but badger me nearly every day anyway. You can't garnish a dissability check or retirement check. OJ was sued for millions but people just like the Goldmans badger me nearly every day anyway. They may be drawing an unemployment check if the FBI ever raids their office.

i'm not a bill collector, please i have more education than those rude fools. sorry for wanting to help thoose that do not live in FL, SC, NC, PA, or TX ( where they can't touch you)i happen to live in ohio where they can do what they want to me.

also i do know the laws. i did file a do not contact and that is why they sued me, so maybe you are not a good bs detector.

This company called my parents and told them they were left as a reference for a job and then probed to find out where i currently worked and if they had a # for me... I am in the middle of Chapt 11 and they still call my parents.. This will escalate to a harassment law suit if it happens again.. Believe you me!!!!

They called my ex-husband, whom I have a rocky relationship with, about the debt telling him he was listed on my Amex card as a co-borrower. They said Amex sent his name in the information they sent over. I will be checking but as far as I know I don't recall him ever being listed on my Amex card and in any case, we've been divorced for almost 8 years and I know for a fact his name isn't on the card now. My ex-husband should never have even known my financial situation.

You either need to go back to school or get off the internet!
