There is a thing called ethics when it concerns lawyers. They have no ethics nor do they follow proper procedures when collecting a debt. There are federal laws that concern what and how you can collect a debt. If they followed the law and had good moral ethics you would not see so many complaints about them doing their job. When you cross a line you will get a lot of complaints. Lawyers or not they have to follow the letter of the law and they have to be of good moral character and nature. Non of this I am seeing on any website I have seen complaints about this law firm.
They are not a scam. They can garnish your wages. I've been working with them for the last 6 months and they are quite rude over there and will not work with you for any reasons. Good luck
Let''s not forget tho, that if you are recieving Social security, Veterans Benefits, and other benefits that your income from these sources are exempt from garnishment according to federal law...
my update: after no longer answering zwickers phone calls i started seeing all this mail in the mail box for lawyers wanting to represent me in my debt case. i may have gotten a total of about 10 diff mailings. the mailings said you are being sued for your AMEX acct and call us we can help. at first i got nervous but then i was like well its time for the showdown in court. best case scenario it would be dismissed based on my income and current medical situation. after a few months i received a letter from zwicker saying that they had dismissed my case. i was like wth!?!?!?!? i felt very good and happy. the phone calls from them decreased but they would try to call like once a week (i continued to ignore them). one voice mail said "this is such and such with zwicker and i heard u wanted to settle your case, give me a call back at whatever #." a month later a summons person came to the house and handed my wife the summons to appear in court paper. i was like damnit here we go again. so i called the court house and asked was this case dismissed (based on the letter i got earlier) and she said "yes" and this was over with. i looked over the summons paper again just to double check and what i basically saw was that the petition was filed but never delivered in a timely manner to me. so zwicker sent the dismissed letter because the summons guy didnt get to me in time. so zwicker sold my acct to anothe agency, this agency was easy to work with and made me an offer i couldnt refuse. i settled both amex accts with them for alot lot less. total of about 45,000 i owed settled for a little more than 9,000. i always wanted to pay because i loved when i had my amex (great company). but no other collector wanted to make me an offer they just wanted the whole amt and that was happening. anyway thats my story that just happened recently.
Called - asked for my son. Told them not at this number - they hung up. I called them back - said take my number off calling list as son does not reside here. They said would not remove until debt was paid. Told the son did not have phone - they said how does he contact you. Told them take mynumber off or put note not to call. Will not answer future calls from thesepeople. Person I talked to got very very snippy and said "yes maam".
This # has been on my id before but left no message. My husband whom i am separated from is in a debt settlement program with several creditors. They are all unsecured c.cards. I used to be an authoried user on the cards but was removed before he ever got behind or went into this program so therefore i have been told they should not be contacting me because they are his debts legally not mine. I have never spoken with anyone from the # and probably never will since they should be calling soon to be ex.
I am looking for a job again as a collector. Is Zwicker hiring in NY? I have over ten years experience.
Send them a letter advising them to stop calling you in regards to their collection efforts.. Under the Fair credit and reporting act, they must stop harrassing you and can only communicate with you in writing in regards to legal proceedings they have taken against you.. They can recieve rather stiff fines from the federal government if they continue to call and bother you after you have asked them to stop..
