Looks like the shills for this FRAUD are now resorting to making fake posts claiming to retract the remarks of actual complainants (see above).
This is a real Bank Of America phone number. In fact, if you look at the back of your credit card you'll see a phone number that has the same (302) 73X-XXX area code and prefix. Bank of America is a HUGE company and probably has tens of thousands of assigned telephone numbers. As a result they probably have the entire range of the 302 area code's 730 through 739 prefixes. The phone number you received a call from is most likely one of their fraud detection robo callers. If you aren't comfortable giving out your private information (which is entirely understandble) to an inbound caller you should just tell them "I'll call you guys back using the number on the back of the credit card." It's that simple.
This is a legitimate number. I got a call from this number this morning but I did not answer the phone. After checking on the web, I called the number. A guy answered the phone and requested me to give him my credit card number. He said there is a suspected fraudulent activity. I told him I have a few cards and I need to know which. He won't released any information. He asked me which card I had recently used and that payment failed. I did use my BOA card to pay my ACCA membership in sterling pound just 10 minutes ago and it failed to go through. Being cautious, I told him I will call my bank directly. I called BOA # at the back of my card and true enough my card was temporarily blocked due to this payment made. After clarifying that it was indeed a payment made by me, they released the block on my card. I think they are doing a good job in preventing fraudulent activities. I asked BOA regarding the first phone call and they said it was legitimate.
Dude, seriously, you are 100% wrong. The number is the automated fraud detection system calling to let her know about the fraud. If you look at the back of your credit card you'll see that there isa number starting with 302-73X-XXXXBofA is a HUGE company with 10s of thousands of phone numbers. When a large company has that many numbers the phone company usually gives them those numbers in blocks. In this case they appear to have all the 73X prefix phone numbers in the 302 area code.Their automated system uses specific numbers for outbound calling only. Their inbound phone numbers are different because they are directed to a different system. As this woman said, her account was shut down completely when she tried to view it online. That is because their automated fraud system caught some unusual activity and shut the card down, at the same time it attempted to contact the customer in order to have the customer identify charges as correct or fraudulent.
If a credit card company is legitimately calling you about fraudulent charges they will always leave a message saying as much and asking you to call your card issuer to resolve. They will never just hang up & keep calling until you answer!
That's because they're on the phone trying to scam someone else! Don't get tired trying to call them back it won't work.
Definitely Bank of america...just look at your online account, they are verifying if recent charges are fradualant.
Received several call from this number. I called my card co and they said were fishing for my personal information. I called the numbers on the back of my credit cards and they were not trying to reach me for anything,
Not a scam. Legit BoA. 02/29/12 I made the charge online, and they immediately sent the email and made 2 calls from this number. I called the 800 number and cleared it up. I know scams when I see them. Although asking you for numbers is very odd, always call the 800 number to verify if you don't want to give the numbers.
