I am a retiree of BOA. They called 3 times today. # listed as Card Services. I finally listened to the message. It asked if I was indeed this person, if so press 1. Then they asked if the last 4 digits was my credit card #. I hung up and called a line for retirees, was transferred to the Fraud Dept. I told them why I was calling, they had me verify my password, address and state. The gentlemen on the line noticed a charge on my a/c they had never seen before and they were holding all transactions until I verified that I had made this charge. After they verified other transactions I made this same day, they told me they would go ahead and take the HOLD off my a/c. There are so many fraudulent charges going on it was nice to know they are watching all a/cs to make sure no one else had used my credit card.
I got a call from 302-731-1166 this morning regarding possible fraud on my Visa account. They offered a choice of verifying who I was by ZIP code or Social Security number. I gave my ZIP code. This really is the Bank of America fraud department; they knew every legitimate transaction I'd made in the last couple days, plus 3 fraudulent ones (to three different online dating services!!!) I am very grateful they are looking out for their customers. They are closing my account and Fed Exing a new Visa card with a new account number tomorrow. I agree that their identification process could be a little clearer. I am always reluctant to answer a call from a number I don't recognize, but if I had not answered, they would have frozen my Visa. This happened a few months ago and although we resolved that particular questionable transaction without having to change the account number, I was unable to use my Visa card that day and had to pay cash for a couple large purchases.
This is, in fact, the BOA fraud division calling to let you know that someone has attempted to make an unauthorized charge on your credit card. Call back using the 1-800 number on the back of your card.
I didn't pick up...they called twice today, 4pm and 9 pm. I looked it up on google, saw it was a Delaware area code. I know noone in Delawre. Therefore, I don't answer.
This number is from Bank of America. They keep calling without leaving a message. After about a week of calling, they lock your credit card so it ends up getting declined everywhere. When you call them to re-activate your card, they argue that you were supposed to have given this unknown caller your bank account number and all your personal information! Silly me! This happens to me about twice a year. They always seem to flag normal charges, but the unusual charges they do nothing about. You can't even get them to issue a new number without closing the account.
Got a call, they left no message. Called the number on the back of my card and they said it everything looked fine. I have to agree it's a SCAM.
I got a call from this number three times today. Based on the first post, I called Bank of America regarding my credit card and found that my card was blocked due to fraud
Folks, this is Bank of America's Fraud Alert system calling you to report that there has been suspicious activity on your BOA/MBNA/FIA-issued credit card account. Delaware is a major business center for card issuers. Better take this call! If you missed it, then be sure to go online and check the charges on your cards immediately.
Well I guess there is lack of communication but it was indeed the fraud department and was legit. I prefer to use the phone number from the bank's website. Cheers.
I got another call and this time they stated that it was from "Bank of America". Further checking on this I found out it was from "Bank of America" Fraud Division and they noticed some unusal charge activity in regards to my account and were trying to verify if the charges were valid.I was glad that they were trying to verify. Apparently their on top of the game and are just trying to protect their customers. However I would advise anyone who receives a call from this number,do as the other lady did and tell them you will call them back to verify who they are ? It is better to be safe than sorry.
