I just made a 4 digit purchase, and a few hours later received call from this number. didnt answer as I didnt know who from, came to this site and am convinced its most likely fraud alert from BofA
I can confirm that this is legit. If you get a call from this number, you COULD call them back. But better yet, call the number on the back of your card. These guys called me and I called them back. Stupidly, when they asked me to verify my card number I gave it to them. (But it turned out to be ok, because this is in fact BOA.)Some fraudulent charges had been made on my account. The guy on the other end of the phone confirmed the charges and closed my account. I called BOA back later using the number on my card. They confirmed the account was closed. I also received an email about the charges.
Follow-up: You can go on the B of A online credit card site and link to their fraud protection page to verify transactions. Right after I got the phone call I mentioned above, I also got an e-mail from B of A asking me to verify a recent transaction attempt by linking to the fraud page. It showed me all my transactions for the past couple months, including the declined transaction. I feel more confident using their online service, but while I'm traveling in Europe either verification will be a hassle if needed. Their customer service people put an "international alert" on my card for my travel dates, so unless I lose the card while out of the country this shouldn't be an issue.
I just received this call, and called the number on the back of my card. It is 100% legit. They had a fraud alert on my card, and I had to verify some purchases. Those crying fraud on this need to just shut up already because they have no clue what they're talking about. If you get this call, contact your BoA.
This really is Bank of AmericaWhen I saw the number, i tracked it here, read the comments and went right online to my accountSOMEONE got ahold of my credit card number even tho the card remains in my dresser drawer and charged THOUSANDS to my cardthey alerted it as a fraud and i was able to immediately go thru their prompts and report it as NOT my chargesif you see this number and you do have accounts with B of A go RIGHT TO Your online account ASAPand see if you have been like me
I just got off the phone with B of A and it IS the fraud alert dept calling with suspicious charges. It was not me and they are sending out a fraud statement to sign and cancelling the card. It is LEGIT!!
With a zip code, one can use a stolen credit card at a gas pump, verify that it is a working card, and then go to town.
just got a call from this number claiming to be the Hertz rental car fraud department....wanted cc#...
