Doug I am in Canada tooand I just had my 15th call from these people, they are telemarketers wanting to reduce your interest rates on your credit cards, I tried calling them back but you just get a recording. Not much you can do but like the others said, call blocking.
I just had a call from these people and told them I don't even own a credit card and they hung up on me as usual. He had told me it was only for Visa and Mastercard holders. I have had them hang up on me at least 5 times. I really wish there was something we could do, I never give infor on the phone but lots of poor people do especially seniors and I heard they even call retirement homes. Who is the Governor of Florida?
Listened to the automated bogus message about lowering my credit card debt. They mentioned being a final notice for a sense of urgency to respond by pressing option 1 or 3 (remove from list). Bills are always paid on time and know this is a scam, I simply left the phone on hold to prolong the call. No need to speak to anyone.
The government only has power to enforce the DO NOT CALL list for those callers who are located within Canada. I used to be involved in the telcom industry; and was very much aware of the issues when it was implemented. I think the government has been attempting to make some headway in cross border co-operation but do not think this has been resolved yet. Until then, the DO NOT CALL does not apply to inbound international calls. Therefore the telemarkers simply go to the US and call inbound to Canada.
It is unfortunate, but the legislation and associated fines to not go south of border, and never did.See quote from DNCL website "The National Do Not Call List (DNCL) introduces new responsibilities for Canada’s telemarketers."Canada can try and do what it wants, without co-operation from their US counterparts it is not totally effective.
This number calls my house about 10 times a week & has even got me up a 4 in the morning. I am sick of being harassed by these people. Is there any way I can stop them from calling? How do I report them?? I am getting very sick of them bothering me.
Be aware that when you call back they record your phone data. name data and address irrespective if its a blocked call or not! Do not respond to these guys at all, call the Do Not Call List and CRTC and put in a complaint, also call the US equivalent and put in a complaint, if they identify the state call the authorities there as well and issue a complaint.386-233-3694 has called me numerous times and I have taken these actions, again do not respond, call back or give any information as it may endanger you.800NOTES.com is excellent but don't try other websites for reverse phone numbers as they may have trojans, this happened to me three months ago and it took me a whole day to correct the problem. I was lucky because my antivirus was up to date and caught the main trojan payload, just the less lethal stuff got through changing all my files to hidden and several other little viruses that I found and got rid of.The safest way to search the internet is to boot up live disk in Linux Puppy, this does not hurt your normal operating system and and gives you protection from viruses and trojans. Be aware your IP info is still recorded by sites you go onto. The internet is public, wide open and can be a dangerous place if you are not careful.
Call The DNCL at 1-866-580-3625 and CRTC at 1-877-249-2782 and Washington to lodge a complaint, the more the better! 800 type numbers cannot be blocked but you can block the 386 and other non toll free numbers, yes they will use another number but it might help a bit!
It's a recorded message saying that there's problem with your credit card. You must call this number immediately or risk losing your low-rate interest etc.
