I received a call from this number around 9pm i didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number. If this is a debt collector what money do they think anyone would pay during a holiday season in this economy? Secondly I have been fortunate enough not to have any current debts or any outstanding debts. The last time I was delinquent on a bill was 15yrs ago. And that was paid in full. I have heard Clark Howard a national radio and tv host tell callers /viewers to send these companies a drop dead letter found on his website when a company is outside state limits for collecting a past due debt. And if the debt is currently due you have rights they still are not allowed to threaten or harass.

Has anyone here filed a complaint with FCC? Everytime I get one of these calls I report it since my phone is on the DO NOT Call list.

I got a call from this number a few minutes ago. I missed the call but a message wasn't left so it couldn't have been too important. Google says the area code is a Kansas number.

Just called me,left no message.

This company has called me from 7 different numbers. I am going to send the letter as described in an earlier post. They just called around 6:45. I almost answered it but am glad I didn't. I figure if it is important or legit they will leave a message. If I owe someone money they send me a bill which I do my best to pay in full on time. If this is a debt from when I was 17 and a freshman in college then sorry because that was 18 years ago and in Oregon the statute is 6 years. I haven't had a credit card in over 10 years and prefer to pay by check as there are so many rotten companies out there. I like to have the paper trail for proof.

You aren't going to get the calls to stop by complaining about it here. You have to be proactive. Send them a cease communication letter VIA certified mail with return receipt requsted. By law they have to stop calling once they receive your letter or you can sue them for FDCPA violations.

Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, cease all phone communications with me about this alleged debt. Receipt of this letter is officially being time stamped via Certified Mail. I will pursue each subsequent phone call from your office with a $1,000 per incident penalty for Fair Debt Collection Practices Act violations.
