Received a call from an India help desk urgently telling me that there is an issue with my wireless line. He said he was with AT&T. I'm an AT&T employee and asked for his user ID. He gave me a phony number and didn't know AT&T's messaging system. Bottom line, I couldn't verify he was an AT&T employee and didn't give him my user information he was requesting because someone was trying to access my account. He hung up after 13 minutes of this mess.
My neighborhood app had a post about this scam just a few days ago, so I knew to be careful. I am very vigilant after having been taken advantage of several years ago by a payday loan company.
Got a call from this number identying as ATT and difficult to understand, so twice I had to ask if I could help you, the response I got was " Free offer for a tab to [***]" Notified ATT who said cant do anything about it.
Just received a call. A heavy accented male said that my ATT account was $2000. What are we going to do about it? I told him no it was not and hung up. The number came up on caller Id but not ATT.
Called cell. Left a fragment of a VM "good bye" from a robot voice. There is no way ATT would behave like this, it is some scheiss-nozzle spammer.Reported and blocked.
When I answered this call, the robot said he was with AT&T and my cell phone account had been suspended (but I was on my cell phone-wtf?). So, then he said in order for them to solve my disconnection "problem", and to prove my identity, I needed to give him the last 4 numbers of my SS card.I hung up.

I called Citibank's other number and confirmed this was their Consumer Support number. It is legitimate. Processed the information they needed to verify my account. I originally thought it was fraud but it is real.

We receive calls at our place of business from these people every day and they claim to be with Spectrum. It sounds like a call center in India; noisy background noise and each person who calls has a strong accent.
